Movie reviews

Our picked Christian source is Plugged In — the most detailed content breakdowns anywhere (swearing, innuendo, nudity, violence). Latest pulls below, refreshed October 4, 2026. Also worth bookmarking: Movieguide · Dove.org.

Top mainstream movie

Verity (2026)

Plugged In calls Colleen Hoover's darkest adaptation yet the most sadistic and explicit of the four — steeped in infidelity, murder, and depravity. One to skip.

Top mainstream movie

Forgotten Island (2026)

Plugged In praises this colorful DreamWorks adventure's touching friendship story and Filipino folklore, but warns parents to keep tween-and-under kids away: the vampire Manang is nightmare material among three-eyed demonic entities, alongside a smattering of mild profanity ("d–n," "h—," "crap," etc.), crude potty humor, knife play, and constant deception — the scary bits are what kids will remember most.

Top Christian movie

Daniel and the Fiery Furnace (2026)

Plugged In found this crowd-funded biblical film faithful to Scripture (zero profanity, mostly off-camera violence) but notes the castration plotline and harem scenes with dancing women as content concerns — calling it uneven and a bit prayer-heavy, yet carried by an inspiring core message: "He does not put you through the fire to test you. He puts you through the fire to refine you."

Top Christian movie

Bad Counselors (2026)

Plugged In says this PG-13 Christian camp comedy — about two atheist frat bros posing as counselors to work off public-intoxication charges — is clean on language (worst heard is "idiot") but dings it for making drinking the leads' whole personality (shots, kegging, beer pong) plus flirtatious innuendo and a couple of kisses; still, it lands some real laughs poking fun at evangelical church culture and delivers a nice message about repentance and second chances.
