Seminary aid shield
Oklahoma religious leaders backed Sen. James Lankford's Religious Education Fairness Act, introduced Sept. 29 with Sen. Ted Cruz, which would exempt seminary and religious-vocation programs from a new federal 'Do No Harm' earnings rule that could strip low-earning ministry programs of Direct Loans, Pell Grants, and work-study; ADF and the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities back it.

Shrine zoning fight
The Supreme Court agreed to hear Missionaries of Saint John the Baptist v. Frederic, a religious-liberty case about a Kentucky chapel's plan to build a Marian grotto shrine on its own property, after the Kentucky Supreme Court ruled against it. The Catholic association argues blocking the shrine violates the federal Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act; First Liberty is arguing the case this term.

Pastors called to engage
SBC President Willy Rice called on pastors nationwide to engage the political process ahead of the midterms, arguing political issues are at their heart theological and moral issues, and lamenting that Christians were encouraged to withdraw while the theological left stayed engaged.
